JUNIOR NEWS
Area 17 Dressage Qualifiers 15th July 2007
On Sunday 15th July, Solent Riding Club entered a junior team to compete in both the Dressage and Riding Test Area competitions.
Competing for us were, Jess Budny, Nick Menjou, Alice Walker, Justine Gwynne and Katy Mew.
There were five junior dressage teams competing, and I am so pleased to report that our riders came 2nd, in the Dressage competition and 3rd in the Riding Test. Obviously to achieve this there were some really outstanding marks, Just to give you an idea two of our riders in the riding tests achieved over 70% and in the dressage competition our average mark was 60.1% ! Alice and Katy also received 4th and 5th individual placings in the tests. At the end of the day this meant that all of our riders went home with two, three or four rosettes, which was a testament to the amount of training and commitment leading up to the competition .
When the horses had been put away, and we were all sitting waiting for the results anyone looking on would have had to laugh at our young team, who with the pressure of the competition behind them, and all in good humor, decided that throwing grass cuttings at each other was the perfect end to the day!
Next year we hope to send two dressage and riding test teams, Sarah, who works with our very young juniors, is eager to encourage a team and I don’t think she will take ‘no’ for an answer!!
